6-28-22   THOUGHTS

We read the first twelve verses of 1John  below.  We are doing exactly that in our Tuesday morning class.  The SOURCE of TRUTH and LIGHT is given.  “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us...”.   The purpose was that we might have FELLOWSHIP with God and Christ and with each other.  The message is proclaimed, “God is Light”, all light, no darkness.  It is God’s plan that we would walk in light.  His blessings come to those who practice the TRUTH!   Our willingness to CONFESS our sins, brings HIS willingness to forgive our sins.  God does not want sin in our lives.  But we are sinners.  Jesus is our ADVOCATE with the Father in all this.  This is some of our MOST NEEDFUL READING in God’s Word.  It gives us the confidence and assurance that, we who are so weak, are so desperate for.

1John 1:1-10   What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life —  2  and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us —  3  what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4  These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. 5  This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6  If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7  but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8   If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.
1John 2:1-2    My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2  and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

My Prayer:
O Father God, thank you for the possibility of holiness in Christ Jesus.  We confess our sins!  Remove them from us in Jesus.  Thank you so much for these promises and assurances.  We cannot live without you.  Guide our walking in the light.  Heal us O Lord.  We want to be with You eternally.   In the name of our Lord Jesus,     Amen.
